The town of Bowdoinham has been awarded a $50,000 state grant to help it prepare for the effects of climate change, the Times Record reports.
The grant from Maine's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future will go toward stabilizing shoreline erosion, restoring wetland areas, and making a 20-acre parcel accessible to people with disabilities.
"Following the spring flooding damage in Sagadahoc County, this couldn't come at a better time," says Rep.Sally Cluchey, a Democrat from Bowdoinham.
The town is one of 53 communities across Maine to receive a community resilience grant from the state.
Since December 2021, Maine has awarded $6.1 million to more than 100 communities across the state.
