The Nest and Hive Community Cafã© Are Main Winners in Kirklees Social Enterprise Awards

A space for parents in West Yorkshire, England, that offers workshops on everything from infant sleep to mental health has been named the winner of a social enterprise award.

Rebecca Clacher of The Nest won the start-up award in the Kirklees Social Enterprise Awards, which recognize social enterprises that have a "clear social mission and reinvest their profits in their community," per the Yorkshire Post.

Clacher will use the prize money to fund a year's worth of workshops on everything from postnatal mental health to physiotherapy for parents of young children.

"Just over a year ago we opened the doors of The Nest and we've worked so hard to grow our thriving community of parents," Clacher says.

"This award is huge for us and it's given us the energy to enter the next stage of The Nest's development."

The other finalists in the start-up category were Laura Scully of Hello CIC, which helps women who have experienced trauma, and Jo Cook of Meet and Mend, which helps people who are struggling or isolated.

The winner of the social impact award was Gabby Hurt of the Hive Huddersfield CIC, who runs a vegan, vegetarian, and pilates center that provides vocational training and counseling for adults with learning disabilities.
