The city manager of a small North Carolina town was saved by two city employees who used the Heimlich maneuver on a piece of hard candy that got stuck in his throat, the Times-News reports.
On Monday, Marion City Manager Bob Boyette was working at city hall when a piece of candy got stuck in his throat.
Technician Stephanie Brown and Human Resources Director Kathleen Nolan came to Boyette's aid and used the Heimlich maneuver to free the candy.
"To thank them for coming to his rescue, Boyette presented them with challenge coins and cards of appreciation," the Times-News quotes Boyette as saying in a statement.
